I am here to work with you. What this means is that I am here to guide you on your own unique journey as we restore any nutritional deficiencies and bring the body back into balance so that it can heal the way it is designed to heal.

We may work well together if:

  • You are having unexplained digestive issues

  • You frequently catch colds and suspect your immune system could be run down

  • You always feel exhausted and can't explain why

  • You are planning on becoming pregnant soon and are seeking nutritional support.

  • Hormonal changes are so severe that they interrupt your daily life

  • You would like to learn how you can prevent possible nutrition related illness or lose weight

  • You are ready to make significant changes to improve your quality of life

The Principles That Guide My Work

You are made out of the very fabric of life itself. You are literally a walking miracle and are designed by forces of Nature that are infinitely intelligent. There is only one of you that will ever be here to share your unique gifts, and therefor your ideal diet, lifestyle and needs around healing will be unique too. I don’t believe in a one-sized fits all approach. We’re much too intricately designed and adaptable for that. That being said, I believe there are certain Natural laws that must be respected that can be applied to human health in general:

1. Nutrition Matters. There are particular nutrients you absolutely must obtain through the diet and be able to adequately absorb to maintain optimal health. Failure to provide adequate nutrition is like trying to write a story without the letter “E”. Sure, you can scrape something together, but it’s going to be a lot harder and it might not make as much sense or flow as beautifully.

2. Toxins Can & Do Poison Us. There are poisonous or toxic substances (like pesticide residues and heavy metals such as aluminum and arsenic) that serve no positive biological function and are only harmful. The higher levels of toxins that get into the body, the more resources (nutrients and energy) the body need to use up to sequester and eliminate them. You can imagine, if say, zinc intake is already low and yet the demands for zinc in the body are exceptionally high to carry out necessary regenerative, metabolic and detoxification functions, that quickly zinc can become too depleted for these mechanisms to function properly, resulting in negative health impacts, as one example. It is logical to conclude that the more we can ease the burden on the body by avoiding toxic substances, the better.

3. Thriving Bacterial & Fungi Populations Are Essential. Our health is largely dependent on the microorganisms that make a home in us. 1.5 quadrillion bacteria and probably 10 times that of fungi live within us. The food we eat must first be metabolized by those bacteria and fungi before it is made bioavailable to us so that it can be utilized by our cells. Bacteria and fungi serve many biological functions in our bodies that we depend on for our digestion, a healthy nervous system, immune function & more.

4. Our Genes Are Incredibly Plastic, Meaning They Are Constantly Influenced by & Adapting to Environmental cues. The food you eat is literally giving your body the blue print and the raw material to build your body. Choosing fresh food grown in nutrient rich, chemical free soil is vastly different than eating a packaged food that can sit on a grocery store shelf for months that came from severely nutrient-poor soil that was continuously doused in chemicals.

5. We are dying under the pressure of Industrial Farming. While farming that relies on chemical inputs returns at an average of $40.00 per acre, regenerative farming, the kind that avoids chemicals, focuses on diversity and builds healthy soil, generates at least 10X or more the return at $400-$500 per acre. For the increasing chronic disease trends and environmental collapse we are witnessing to change, we must change everything about the way we’re currently producing our food world-wide. The shift is being made, but with more awareness comes more public demand for growing food in a way that takes into account the long-term AND the short-term impacts of agricultural practices. It’s time to overgrow the system. Our health is directly related to the health of our immediate and surrounding environments. We can’t separate the two.

The Venn Diagram above illustrates the important aspects of our daily life that must be worked on to achieve optimal health. Each category is intricately connected to the others through many different relationships. I’ve coined my approach the “GENTLE” approach. It takes into account the relationship between our unique inherited genes, the influence on those genes from our environment including our nutritional intake, microbiome & emotional health, overall lifestyle, exposure to chemical and emotional stress so that we can understand how imbalances within each category can contribute to disease processes.

Also “GENTLE” because I believe it takes tact and compassion to guide the body towards change instead of forcing it. I prefer to take a natural approach and work with the body as much as possible, though this is a preference and not a rigid ideology. Often there are acute circumstances where Western Pharma intervention is the best choice, but… not… always. Often using synthetic agents in attempt to heal the body is like using a hammer to kill a bug. It’s just too powerful, too much force, and the bug could have been tenderly coaxed outside.

So while I am grateful for Modern Western medicine and value it’s gifts, I also recognize that not a single pharmaceutical drug will actually put your body back into balance. In reality things that are manmade, and artificial in nature are foreign invaders that create further imbalances. Just listen to or read the long list of side effects for any given drug.

The body brings itself back into balance, we just have to nurture those instincts by providing the conditions and it happens all on its own.

What Does This Look Like?

You may simply want to sit down and talk with me for an hour or more. Perhaps you have lots of concerns or questions about all the conflicting and confusing information available on nutrition.

You may even want a bit of tough love. I offer a kitchen detox, where I come to your home, go through your cupboards and actually throw away any food that isn't serving your health and wellness. Not everyone is ready for this step, but many are. At this time I can offer help for understanding how to decipher food labels.  I can also help you learn how to navigate the grocery store (even the ones you may already frequent!) to find wholesome foods and avoid potentially harmful ones.

Do you need a full nutritional analysis done? This is where I play a bit of a detective and help put together a comprehensive picture of what is going on for you. I can also create a completely unique meal plan and supplement regime tailored to your individual needs.

One thing you can be sure to expect when you see me is that I will be giving you some new and often exciting information and help you fit a lot of missing pieces into the jig-saw puzzle that is you.
